USC does not play No. 2 Oregon for two weeks, but linebacker Hayes Pullard watched the Ducks beat Arizona State last week and was impressed.
"They're electrifying," Pullard said. "They're better than last year."
That might seem unlikely with Oregon starting a freshman quarterback (Marcus Mariota), especially when USC coach Lane Kiffin restrains a senior quarterback (Matt Barkley) during some road games.
But Pullard said he does not expect the Ducks to go conservative at the Coliseum on Nov. 3 in a game that will have BCS title implications. He also welcomes the Ducks' no-huddle offense.
"I would say that's our favorite way to play. We like to play fast," Pullard said.
Oregon ranks eighth nationally in total offense.
Record chaser
Wide receiver Robert Woods just set the record for career receptions, but close friend and teammate Marqise Lee wants to break the mark next season.
"That's the goal for me," Lee said. "(Woods) and Matt are really astounding."
Woods said he would not have set the record without his school-record 111 receptions last season.
"I had a good sophomore run," he said.
His performance Saturday, when he caught eight passes for 132 yards and a school-record four touchdowns, reminded him of last season.
"This is what I grew up watching," Woods said.
Lee received stiches in his fingers after the Washington game and wore tape during the week to protect
them. He did not have any problems during the Colorado game.Barkley honored
Barkley was named Pacific-12 Conference Player of the Week after completing 19 of 20 passes for 298 yards and six touchdowns against Colorado.
Penalty problem
Center Khaled Holmes acknowledged USC's penalty woes Saturday were just part of a season-long problem. The Trojans are the most penalized team in the nation with 69 in seven games.
"We've been struggling in that regard all year," Holmes said.
No Williams update
The Pac-12 did not make any announcements Monday regarding defensive tackle Leonard Williams, who was ejected for punching a Colorado player.
Williams might face more punishment from the conference for the flagrant-foul penalty.
"That's not who we want to be," Kiffin said of the personal-foul penalties USC received Saturday.
Morale boost
USC's reserves got plenty of playing time in the Colorado rout, which gave the bench a lift. Some players got their longest stints of the season.
"That helps our morale a lot," Kiffin said. "Kids going in and nobody knows their name. They practice every day and get up at 5 a.m., just like the other guys."
Great Scott
Kiffin likes Arizona quarterback Matt Scott, who has passed for 2,355 yards and rushed for 265 yards this season.
"He can beat you both ways. He can run and throw," Kiffin said.
